The World BioEconomy Forum is pleased to announce the latest high-level speakers to join its event in Brazil 18-20 October 2021. The Forum for 2021 will be held in the city of Belém, Pará state, the gateway to the Amazon region and an area of significant importance to the global circular bioeconomy.
The Forum will consist of its four usual themes: People, Planet, Policies; Global Leaders and the Financial World; Bioproducts Around Us; Looking to the Future. The Forum has put together a diverse programme featuring prominent speakers and panellists from governments, banks, companies, global brands, NGOs, institutes and associations. The three-day event will include keynote addresses as well as dedicated panel discussions. Over 60 speakers from all over the globe are expected to take part in the event.
The latest speakers and panellists now confirmed for the event include:
- Vice President of Brazil, Antônio Hamilton Martins Mourão,will deliver a keynote speech in the opening session.
- CEO of Klabin, Cristiano Teixeira, will join the CEO Panel.
- The President of the Central bank of Brazil, Roberto Campos Neto, will provide an overview of the global economy in the session Global leaders and the Financial World.
- Joachim Schönbeck, Member of the Executive Board, Andritz, will join the CEO Panel
- Nelleke van der Puil, Vice President of Materials, LEGO Group, will join the Bioproducts Around Us panel.

Grant Rosoman, Forests Solutions Senior Campaigns Advisor for Greenpeace International, says, “The World BioEconomy Forum is a great platform to discuss and help find solutions with the private sector and government on how bio-based products can be responsibly produced. It can in particular provide leadership in responsible sourcing of bio-materials that are within Earth’s planetary boundaries, including no deforestation, ecological agriculture and forestry, respect for indigenous rights and moving away from burning biomass as fuel.

The World BioEconomy Forum is held in partnership with the state of Pará, and major bioeconomy associations in Brazil, ABAG and Ibá. The Forum 2021 will be held in the recently developed and renovated riverside venue Estação das Docas in Belém. The city has been recognized as a Creative City of Gastronomy by Unesco.
