The 2024 ABTCP Congress and Exhibition unites the Pulp and Paper community in São Paulo

The Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association (ABTCP) is hosting its annual congress this week at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo.

Following the opening ceremony led by Darcio Berni, Executive Director of ABTCP, the keynote address was delivered yesterday morning by Paulo Hartung, Executive President of the Brazilian Forest Industry Association (IBA).

Over the course of the three-day conference, attendees are discussing key topics including the latest trends in environmental compliance, artificial intelligence, and energy efficiency. Vitor Lucas, Director of Tecnicelpa, the Portuguese counterpart of ABTCP, provided an insightful presentation on the comparative challenges faced by Brazil and Europe in pulp production.

An interesting workshop chaired by Silvana Sommer of Klabin, dedicated to the place of women in the industry, attracted many delegates to discuss the important issue of gender equity in the sector.

This year’s event also features a biennial exhibition showcasing major players in the local industry, such as Klabin and Suzano, along with prominent suppliers including Voith, Valmet, Andritz, Runtech, Hergen, MAN Energy Solutions, ProJet B.V., and many others.

Tonight’s gala dinner will be a chance to present the long list of traditional awards and prizes.
