Södra makes changes to strengthen competitiveness and commercial focus

As part of the implementation of Södra’s strategy, the company’s product portfolio has previously been expanded to include Energy & chemicals and Building systems in addition to the existing core businesses of Paper pulp and Sawn timber. The purpose of this is to make the most of every tree and strengthen Södra’s competitiveness to continue to refine and renew the value of family forestry. Moving forward, all of Södra’s businesses will be directly represented in Group Senior Management to offer even better conditions for the Group’s strategic shifts and to ensure a clearer commercial focus.

Södra Bioproducts and Södra Building Systems to be represented in Group Senior Management

Both Södra Bioproducts, with responsibility for Energy & chemicals, and Södra Building Systems, with responsibility for Building systems, will, as of September 1st, transition from being part of Södra Cell and Södra Innovation to becoming separate business areas. Johannes Bogren and Andreas Berge will therefore move from their current roles as heads of Södra Bioproducts and Södra Building Systems, respectively, to become business area managers and members of Group Senior Management.

“Our new businesses have taken a number of steps forward and it is time to give them more space together with our existing core businesses. The changes will provide us with a good balance between our various products and give the businesses a stronger voice. I am looking forward to working together with Johannes and Andreas and they will both help to make Group Senior Management even more commercial,” said President and CEO Lotta Lyrå.

Catrin Gustavsson new President of Södra Cell

On 1 September, Catrin Gustavsson will be appointed new President of Södra Cell. She is currently President of Södra Innovation.

“Catrin is an appreciated and results-oriented leader with great knowledge and experience of paper pulp manufacturing. “I am really looking forward to continue developing together,” said Lotta Lyrå.

Magnus Björkman, who is currently President of Södra Cell, will in parallel transition to a role that will analyse the management of investments throughout the Group, to help to further strengthen Södra’s profitability and competitiveness.
