The Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of Zaragoza hosted today the press conference for the presentation of SMAGUA, SPAPER, and EXPOFIMER 2025, three events that, from March 4 to 6, will bring together the key players in the water, paper, and renewable energy maintenance sectors at Feria de Zaragoza.
The event was attended by Jorge Villarroya, President of Feria de Zaragoza; Rogelio Cuairán, General Director of Feria de Zaragoza; and Alberto López, Business Development Director, who highlighted the strategic importance of these exhibitions and their economic and professional impact on Aragón.
For the President of Feria de Zaragoza, Jorge Villarroya, it is “a true privilege to host these three exhibitions in Zaragoza.” He also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Aragón for making the Torre del Agua available as the venue for one of the key moments of SMAGUA’s 27th edition: the gala celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Villarroya emphasized that this gala will be “a pivotal moment, bringing together international delegations and authorities in a forum for dialogue and networking. We will also showcase the Torre del Agua as a symbol of Zaragoza and as a testament to our commitment to water as a strategic resource.”
For his part, Alberto López explained the existing synergies between the three exhibitions:
“The synergies between SMAGUA, SPAPER, and EXPOFIMER are clear. The paper industry is a major consumer of water, making its connection with SMAGUA evident. Everything related to water conveyance, sludge management, and treatment is crucial for paper mills, which are often located near rivers. Added to this is the growing importance of sustainability and decarbonization in the sector.
On the other hand, both industries also have a natural connection with EXPOFIMER, as they seek to better manage their resources and minimize their environmental impact through the use of renewable energy.”
He also highlighted that:
“The most important thing is that we have not only consolidated three fairs with their own identity, but we have also created synergies that benefit exhibitors and visitors. Some supplier companies operate in all three sectors, so hosting the fairs on the same dates is an added value for them. They send specialized technicians for different areas: some attend SMAGUA, others SPAPER, and others EXPOFIMER, depending on their role within the company.”
Finally, Rogelio Cuairán emphasized that:
“The 50 years of SMAGUA complement the 60 years of FIMA, which we celebrated last year, and the 50 years that ENOMAQ will mark in its next edition. These are well-established fairs in the city, reflecting the strong support of these industries for Feria de Zaragoza, the result of many years of hard work. Consolidating such prestigious events for so many years is essential for the fair, for the sector, and for Zaragoza and Aragón.”
