Saverio Gamberini, a member of the board of directors of UCIMA (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers’ Association) and general manager of MG2, has been designated the new chairman of CEN TC 146, the European technical committee responsible for drawing up European standards on packaging machinery safety.
Gamberini’s name was put forward by the UCIMA Board of Directors and encountered no opposition during voting by the other member countries.
The fact that Italy continues to hold the chair of CEN TC 146 sends a powerful signal to the market regarding the leadership role played by the Italian packaging technology industry at a European and global level, as well as the strong attention that Italian manufacturers pay to machine safety standards.
“We are proud and delighted to see one of our board members, and someone who is very attentive to the issue of safety, at the head of such an important body for the packaging machinery industry,” commented UCIMA’s chairman Enrico Aureli. “We have always firmly believed that safety is an essential aspect of machinery quality.”
“It is an honour for me to represent our country’s industry within this European committee,” said Saverio Gamberini. “Safety standards are crucial and I will devote my full attention to all countries.”
Since 2017, Saverio Gamberini has served as general manager of MG2, a family-owned company based in Pianoro (Bologna) and a leading player in the design, production and supply of packaging machinery for the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food industries. He became a member of the association’s Board of Directors the same year.
