The Japanese group Nippon Paper Industries has been awarded a “Gold medal” in a sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis (headquartered in France) for the third year in a row.
EcoVadis is an organization that provides buyers with sustainability assessments of suppliers through an information-sharing platform registered with buyers and suppliers from more than 175 countries and over 200 industries. EcoVadis assesses the sustainability of companies in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable sourcing. As with last year, the Company’s efforts for sustainability have again been ranked in the top 5% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis.
Aiming to realize the Group Mission to contribute to better living and cultural progress, the Company is developing businesses based on forest resources as a ‘comprehensive biomass company shaping the future with trees’. Through appropriate supply chain management, the Company will promote sustainability management that pursues both social and environmental sustainability together with corporate growth, and will achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
