Metsä Board, the leading European producer of premium fresh fibre paperboards and part of Metsä Group, has been recognized for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its prestigious ‘A List’ for tackling climate change, as well as acting to protect water security – two of the three environmental themes covered by CDP. Metsä Board has been included on the CDP Climate ‘A List’ since 2016. In the CDP’s Forest programme Metsä Board scored A-.
Metsä Board is shown as one of a small number of companies that achieved a double ‘A’, out of more than 5,800 businesses that were scored based on data submitted through CDP’s questionnaires in 2020. Through significant demonstrable action on climate change and water security risks, Metsä Board is leading on corporate environmental ambition, action and transparency worldwide.
“Our ambitious target is to have 100% fossil free mills by 2030, and the ‘A List’ positions are a recognition of our systematic work to achieve these aims. This is the fifth consecutive year that Metsä Board achieved this position on the CDP Climate A list as well as the fifth year placed on the CDP Water A list. We have also signed the Business Ambition for 1.5°C commitment led by the Science Based Targets initiative” says Mika Joukio, CEO of Metsä Board.
