Since January, Laurent Fischer is the new CEO of Cartonnerie de Gondardennes and the CGW Packaging Group, French producers of corrugated board. Laurent Fischer holds an engineering degree from Arts & Métiers and an MBA from Insead. He has held management positions with leading building materials manufacturers (AkzoNobel and Tarkett). In his last position, he also chaired BMI France, a leader in roofing and waterproofing. A great deal of international experience, particularly in the United States, completes his background.
After 35 years of experience in the paper industry, Bertrand Helle will be retiring in June, after having managed the Gondardennes site since 2007 and becoming its general manager in 2011.
“In the new world that is opening up to us, only those companies that have anticipated and integrated a SER and low-carbon strategy with, in particular, recovery and recycling circuits for raw materials while reducing the environmental footprint will remain,” said Bertrand Helle. This has been the philosophy and DNA of Cartonnerie Gondardennes and CGW Packaging for many years.”

CGW Packaging is an independent French family-owned group that brings together Cartonnerie Gondardennes, Cartonnerie Lacaux and Cartonnerie Ondaine as well as four cardboard mills. Employing more than 650 people in seven sites, the group manufactures corrugated sheets for its converters and packaging manufacturers. With a turnover of more than 200 M€ in 2021, CGW Packaging represents nearly 50% of the French corrugated sheets market. It exports more than 20% of its production
