According to data provided today by Copacel, in 2021, French paper & board production increased by 7% to 7.35 Mt. This is almost the same level as in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic. Graphic papers and packaging papers are up, respectively, by 9.5% (to 1.31 Mt) and 9.6% (4.84 Mt). On the other hand, production of hygiene papers fell by 1.8% to 816,800 t. Finally, pulp production was almost flat (-0.3% and 1.61 Mt). Consumption of paper and cardboard for recycling increased by 6.2% to 5.24 Mt.
