Évelyne Mauret takes over as Director of Grenoble INP-Pagora

From 1 July, Évelyne Mauret will be the new director of Grenoble INP-Pagora, UGA (Université Grenoble Alpes) for a five-year term. She had already been deputy director of the school since 2022.

“I will embody the new strategy: together towards a sustainable world,” she said. This strategy, which is the fruit of collective preparatory work carried out with the management team, will take into account the development of Grenoble INP-UGA with the creation of the Institute of Management and Engineering, which opens up new prospects. It has several components, including ensuring the highest possible level of skills and knowledge, making sustainable development and corporate social responsibility aspects more visible in teaching, and contributing to the school’s reputation by increasing the number of students it accepts”.

After graduating from the Université des Sciences et Techniques du Languedoc in 1984, then from the Université de Savoie in 1986, Évelyne Mauret obtained a “Diplôme d’études approfondies” (DEA) from INSA Toulouse in 1987, a Diplôme d’études supérieures en administration des entreprises from the Université d’Orléans in 1989, then a doctorate (1995) and a habilitation to drive research (2001) from Grenoble INP-Pagora.

Évelyne Mauret has spent most of her career at Grenoble INP-Pagora: as a lecturer since 1997, then as a professor since 2003. Between 2002 and 2006, she was in charge of teaching in the 2nd and 3rd years of the engineering programme. She has also held positions of responsibility within the LGP2 (Process Engineering Laboratory for biorefinery, bio-based materials and functional printing*), of which she was deputy director (2008-2010), director (2011-2015) and then head of the MatBio research team (2019-2022). Her research focuses on process engineering, lignocellulosic materials, nanocellulose, the properties of paper and nanopaper, and the recovery of fibres from annual plants. To her credit: three patents, 48 articles in international journals and 43 presentations at international conferences. Évelyne Mauret was also Scientific Director of PolyNat Institut Carnot (2011-2016) and Deputy Director of LabEx Tec21 and the Fed3G research federation (2019-2022).

In particular, the new director intends to increase the school’s enrolment to meet the recruitment needs expressed by the paper industry and companies in other sectors interested in the properties of paper and cardboard materials to replace plastics. A major project, Form2030, led by the Department of Studies, will enable the current teaching model to evolve. In particular, the aim is to get students more involved in their training and in acquiring new skills. The aim is also to make them more aware of the challenges of social responsibility and sustainable development, which are key to their ability to adapt professionally to a constantly changing environment and to understand their future role as well as possible.
