Energy issues were on the agenda at the second Technical Day of the year, organised on 21 June by Atip (Association technique de l’industrie papetière) in Avignon. Some sixty participants travelled to the City of Popes for this second event organised by Atip this year. It was also an opportunity for Stéphane de Gélis to speak for the first time as Chairman of Atip.
The day before, a visit was organised to the Fibre Excellence Provence plant, a site currently engaged in massive investments. The company also hosted a dinner in a magical Provençal setting, perfect for conviviality and discussion.
During the Technical Day, suppliers presented their approaches and innovations on subjects that concern papermakers on a daily basis: regulatory developments, financing tools for decarbonisation projects, reducing energy consumption in the process or steam production.
Representatives from Copacel, Akyla, ABB, Neoelectra, Solenis, Bellmer, Acoem, Celodev, Leroux & Lotz and AFT took to the podium. The presentations gave pride of place to feedback and other success stories, which are always very telling for paper manufacturers. In all, twelve plants were represented: Ahlstrom (Arches and la Gère), Condat, Fibre Excellence, Gemdoubs, Lacaux, Norske Skog Golbey, Papeterie Léon Martin, Papeteries du Léman, Rossmann, RYAM and Sterimed. Not forgetting the Centre Technique du Papier (CTP).
Atip is already looking forward to seeing the entire French paper industry in Paris on 23 and 24 November for the “Journées papetières” (Paper Days), this year again organised in conjunction with Copacel. V. L.
