All large Finnish forest industry companies will participate in the event. PulPaper will be arranged from Tuesday to Thursday 7 – 9 June 2022 at Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.
Almost 250 companies will participate in the PulPaper event. Participants are among others Stora Enso, Metsä Group, UPM, Sappi as well as ABB, Andritz, Banmark, Bellmer Finland, Chemigate, Ircon Solaronics, Masspap, MoveRoll, Nalco Finland, Nouryon, Runtech System, Sulzer, Sweco, Valmet and Weten Technologies.
”PulPaper highlights the potential of the forest industry. It is especially interesting to hear about wood-based textiles and packaging solutions. The innovations are also strongly present at the New Wood project stand and in the Start-up competition, which will be held on Wednesday,” says Business Manager Marcus Bergström from Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre. “I also look forward to Wednesday’s forest industry stakeholder discussion on forest industry and bioindustry innovations and the new Green Economy Business Summit”.
Interesting openings about the possibilities of wood-based textiles
Wood-based textiles will be the theme of the opening session by Professor Ilkka Kilpeläinen from the University of Helsinki. Kilpeläinen and Professor Herbert Sixtan won the Marcus Wallenberg Award in April 2022. They will receive the award in the autumn in Stockholm for the development and application of new types of ionic solvents in the processing of wood biomass into high-quality textile fibres. Wood-based textiles will also be on display at the PulPaper Conference on opening day. Professor Michael Hummel/Aalto University, Niklas von Weymarn/Metsä Spring, Kristina Elg Christoffersson/Renewcell and Pia Qvintus/Spinnova will discuss the theme. https://pulpaper.messukeskus.com/pulpaper-conference-2/
Wood-based packaging solutions are needed
The new wood-based packaging solutions will be on display at the opening day’s PulPaper Conference and will present, among other things, the Package-Heroes research project funded by the Strategic Research Council that operates in connection with the Academy of Finland. Research professor Ilkka Leinonen from LUKE (Natural Resources Institute Finland) will speak about this theme. Two weeks ago, a pilot plant developing wood-based packaging for Metsä Spring and Valmet was launched in Äänekoski. This development of 3D fibre products will also be presented at the event.
Lots of innovation in the forest industry
