Progroup is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of containerboard and corrugated board. In Schüttorf since 2005 the family-run company has been operating the corrugated sheetfeeder plant PW05, which was expanded in 2010 together with Packners GmbH to create a packaging park. The cooperation between the two companies will end after a period of 15 years in 2024 when the term of the agreement expires.
Creating capacities for new growth projects and cooperations
“Thanks to the close cooperation with Progroup, we have been able to increase our competitiveness, shorten the delivery times for our packaging and respond much more flexibly to customer enquiries. This has enabled us recently to achieve a sales volume of more than 135 million m² of corrugated board per year,” says Frank Gausepohl, Managing Director of Packners GmbH. As a result, the production capacity for Packners at the Schüttorf site has almost reached its structural and technical limitations.
“An important part of our success has been and still is to grow along with our partners. This also includes recognising the right time to follow new paths in order to facilitate further ambitious growth plans. This may also mean deliberately ending a successful cooperation,” says Progroup founder and Chief Executive Officer Jürgen Heindl.
The two long-standing partners Progroup and Packners have therefore agreed not to extend the cooperation agreement which is set to run until 2024. This will create capacities to deliver new growth projects and cooperations.
Progroup continues success story at its Schüttorf site
Progroup will still champion the packaging park at its Schüttorf site in the future. The company will continue to rely on long-term cooperations with independent, medium-sized packaging manufacturers. In the successful business model of the packaging parks, production and IT systems of two commercially independent companies are highly interconnected, which considerably increases flexibility and efficiency.
