On October 28-30, two Fastmarkets forest products events will take place at the same venue, giving delegates access to more content and more industry figures – at no extra cost.
Ticketholders can attend both the Forest Products North America Conference (formerly RISI North America) and the International Containerboard Conference, both hosted at the Westin Chicago River North hotel.
The events come as global demand for containerboard is picking up and mega-mergers are changing market dynamics. One of the key players in recent M&A activity, Smurfit Westrock leader Tony Smurfit, will be opening the conference.
Other senior industry figures will be discussing a market pushing for margin recovery, how inflation and high interest rates are hitting spending, and other hot topics.
At the North America event, the focus will be on demand shifting from white to brown grades, with US containerboard production accounting for 55% of all paper and board output from January to July. Experts will also examine North American mills favouring lighter basis weights and greater recovered paper consumption – as they strive to become more sustainable and efficient.
A who’s who of industry leaders
Across both events, more than 40 senior figures will share their perspectives with around 400 industry professionals. While each event will have a different agenda focus, attendees can come and go between events, choosing the most relevant sessions and making more connections in shared networking spaces.
The speakers will include:
- Tony Smurfit, group CEO and president – Smurfit Westrock
- Mike Doss, CEO – Graphic Packaging
- Markus Gartner, CEO – Mondi Corrugated Packaging
- Richard Bourke, senior analyst – Bloomberg Intellegience
- Luis Gerardo Gonzalez, general manager – Cartomicro
On October 28, a pre-conference workshop will cover optimizing sustainability, exploring the latest trends, key metrics and strategies for making businesses more eco-friendly. At both conferences, delegates will also receive detailed data analysis from Fastmarkets experts, allowing them to plan for the future with confidence.
Turning networking into new business
Throughout the three days, attendees will enjoy regular opportunities to make important industry connections. Networking lunches and breaks, cocktail receptions and topic tables will draw people from across the North American forest products and global containerboard supply chains. Paper mills, end users, investors, logistics providers, producers and many other stakeholders will be discussing issues and building relationships in Chicago.
