The European Association of corrugated case paper manufacturers, Cepi ContainerBoard (CCB), has updated for the sixth time its “European List of Corrugated Papers”, the industry’s only reference document. The first version of which was created in 1992.
Based on 30 years of practice, this 6th edition reflects the improved knowledge and understanding of how paper properties influence the characteristics of corrugated packaging and corrugators performance. As a reminder, the purpose of this “List” is to :
- define the grades of paper and board used by the corrugated board industry in Europe and and give a brief technical description,
- to allow the identification of the paper grades marketed in Europe,
- to indicate the general conditions for guaranteeing the technical specifications of the papers,
- present future trends and technical developments.
In this update, particular emphasis has been placed on the definition of “white liners” (coated and uncoated). In addition, the new “S-Test” compression properties for corrugated based material (based on recovered paper) have been defined. A chapter on “dual use” recycled papers was also included.
Erik Tollander, Chairman of the CCB Technical Committee, has overseen the updating of the list in five languages (English, German, French, Italian and Spanish) with the reference version being the English document. All these documents are available on the CCB website : http://cepi-containerbaord.org/
