Valmet is currently looking for an experienced General Sales Manager to lead and drive sales and business in Middle East as main target and starting point and, potentially, Italy as further second step.

In this role you will focus on our customers mainly in Paper and Pulp industries. You will plan and execute business strategy and ensure continuous growth within the sub-region.

  • Location: Milan, Italy or Abu Dhabi
  • Team: Regional Management team, EMEA area
  • Reporting to: Vice President, Sales, SEMEA

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the sales team in planning and executing strategic and operational priorities across all Valmet businesses, while overseeing all business tasks and strategy implementation in all subregions, with a focus on the paper, tissue, pulp and energy customer industries.
  • Analyze markets and sales trends to identify new business opportunities.
  • Ensure the development of cost-competitive solutions and fit-for-purpose offerings for customers.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record in forecasting, steering, and developing businesses to meet targets.
  • Ensure sales volumes, profitability, and high customer satisfaction – with viable contractual terms and conditions in a highly competitive business environment -.
  • Develop the teams to enhance performance and capabilities.
  • Leverage strong relationship management skills to be recognized by customers as a valued partner.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant academic degree in Mechanical Engineering or Paper Science.
  • Business experience in high-level transactions or sales management.
  • Technical expertise in Pulp & Paper industry and Services.
  • Commercial mindset with understanding of Customer Value Chain and economics.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
  • Hands-on experience in contract law and negotiating complex project contracts.
  • Analytical ability and strong decision-making skills.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages a plus.
  • Dynamic leadership with a hands-on, customer-focused approach.
  • Proven track record in building and leading high-performing sales teams.
  • Effective networking, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Adaptability and change management skills in ambiguous environments.
  • High energy, drive, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
