With the annual European conference of Fastmarkets RISI, come jointly the PPI Awards. The winners of the 2020 selection were announced during a gala dinner given at the Sheraton Lisboa yesterday night. Although the various current travel restrictions prevented some of the contestants, sponsors and guests from joining, the dinner was well attended and the atmosphere was joyful.
The judges, who are acting as independent professionals of the pulp and paper industry (consultants, journalists, analysts, …), had to evaluate a series of projects and individuals to grant the prizes.
The individual awards went to Mrs Ksenia Sosnina (Ilim Group) as International CEO of the year, Mr Klaus Poller (Mondi Syktyvkar) as Mill Manager of the year, and Mrs Susanne Oste (Sappi Europe) as PPI Industry Woman of the year.
The projects categories this year covered topics like Risk & Safety, Sustainability, Tissue Products, IoT, Packaging Innovation, Marketing Campaign, … Some of the winners retained the attention of the audience, like Hakle, the german tissue producer for its grass paper towels in the Tissue Product category, MM Karton for its online carton purchasing system in the Digitalization category, and the Brazilian Klabin for its 100% eucalyptus kraftliner board in the Packaging Innovation category.
Congratulations to all contestants, and also the sponsors who support the event like Valmet, StepChange Consulting, Nalco Water, FM Global and PaperFIRST among others.
