Konecranes has concluded cooperation negotiations with Finnish works council representatives regarding temporary layoffs covering all of the company’s employees in the country, some 2,000 in total. The negotiations were started last week due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The temporary layoffs will be carried out based on the needs of the various business units or functions in the country, with measures to also include options such as shortened work weeks. As stated last week, the period of the temporary layoffs will be up to 90 days at most during 2020. In addition to Finland, Konecranes has already been active in reducing costs across the full scope of the company’s global operations.
