Lucart invests several million euros in a 10th converting line in France

At the end of 2024, Lucart signed an order to install a new converting line in its Laval-sur-Vologne (Vosges area, Eastern France) workshop to produce folded hand towels. “This line meets strong market demand and will provide more than 6,000 t/year of additional production capacity,” said Benoît Cottel, CEO of Lucart in France. “It will be installed next fall and will constitute the site’s 10th converting line.” The workshop’s other lines are used to convert industrial wiping and hygiene products. The launch of this machine, which represents an investment of several million euros, will allow the recruitment of five converting line operators.

At the same time, the factory continues to innovate in its processing workshop thanks to the implementation of a continuous improvement management system developed by the startup Shizen.

“We were looking to improve our working methods in a modern way, with a tool that goes beyond the digitization of indicators,” continues Benoît Cottel. “Shizen is able to support us in ensuring Lucart’s expertise, while challenging our best practices if necessary.”

Since the start of the experiment with Shizen, teamwork has improved, through better communication between the departments, more fluid information sharing, and faster resolution of anomalies.

As a reminder, Lucart SAS has been based in Laval-sur-Vologne since 2008. During this period, the company has almost tripled its turnover, which now stands at €130 million. Equipped with two paper machines dedicated to the production of tissue paper, nine processing lines and a waste water treatment plant, the factory produces paper from the recovery of cellulose fibers present in cardboard for food liquids.
