Clairefontaine enters the packaging market


During Paris Packaging Week, which brought together professionals in premium and luxury packaging at the end of January, Clairefontaine announced its entry into the packaging market. In doing so, the company is opening a new chapter in its long history.

Faced with growing demand for innovative, sustainable and personalized packaging solutions, Clairefontaine has mobilized its centuries-old expertise to offer a high added-value offering

“Our customers’ expectations are changing rapidly, particularly in the luxury and high-end craft sectors,” explained Frédéric Nusse, President of Papeteries de Clairefontaine. “We wanted to respond to them by highlighting our unique know-how.”

During Paris Packaging Week, a new box, called PaperPack, was presented. It is available in three volumes:

  • a technical document, which offers an overview of the technical characteristics and performance of the papers,
  • two complete color charts, which present a wide range: recycled or virgin fibers, various shades from bright white to intense black, as well as a palette of colors adapted to standard or specific uses.

In 2023, Papeteries de Clairefontaine achieved a turnover of €290 million with 548 employees. Its two machines in Etival (Eastern France) produce some 180,000 tpy of uncoated and printing-writing papers (FSC or PEFC certified). With Papeterie de Mandeure, Everbal and Schut, Papeteries de Clairefontaine represent the four production units of Exacompta Clairefontaine. In 2023, this Group achieved a turnover of €843 million with more than 3,200 employees.
