PDL Invests in New Rewinder to Boost Efficiency and Meet Growing Market Demands

Papeteries du Léman (PDL) has made a significant move towards enhancing its production capabilities with a 2.8 million euro investment in a state-of-the-art rewinder. This strategic investment comes as part of PDL’s broader commitment to increasing its production capacity by 2025, in response to the rising demand for Primabake, its premium baking paper. The new rewinder not only strengthens PDL’s production processes but also aligns seamlessly with the company’s core values of efficiency, sustainability, and premium quality.

Adding the rewinder will significantly improve coil quality, especially for smaller rolls—an area of increasing demand in the baking industry. By streamlining the production of these smaller-diameter rolls, PDL will be better equipped to serve the needs of its global customers. This investment also allows PDL to absorb new baking volumes while further reducing waste, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally conscious practices.

“This investment marks an exciting step forward for PDL,” says Patrick Sombret, Product Manager for Primabake. “Not only are we enhancing our ability to produce higher quality rolls, but we’re also taking a major leap in sustainability by minimizing waste and optimizing production for the future. This ensures we meet the highest quality standards for our customers, particularly as demand for smaller, premium rolls continues to grow.”

The rewinder is equipped with the latest traceability technologies, reflecting PDL’s BRC certification, ensuring that food products are handled with the utmost care and safety. Alongside the PM6 machine in Publier, both pieces of equipment use cutting-edge tracking systems to maintain full traceability of the baking papers they produce, guaranteeing compliance with food safety standards throughout the year.

This investment is also in line with PDL’s plans to increase capacity and improve production efficiency, helping the company maintain its leadership position in the baking paper market. As the demand for high-quality, smaller-diameter baking paper continues to rise, PDL’s new rewinder will play a critical role in meeting those needs, further solidifying its reputation for premium quality and sustainable practices.
