iFoodbag helps Swedes abroad to eat herring, meatballs and Swedish whey cheese

Environment and stronger logistics are in focus when Swedish iFoodbag continues to deliver its unique refrigerator and freezer bag throughout the world. Now the company is approaching a patent license for the product, which now also transports classic Swedish goods all the way down to Switzerland.

A lot has happened since iFoodbag launched its unique refrigerator and freezer bag almost 18 months ago. The company was rewarded quite soon with a sought after EU grant and signed agreements with both national companies such as Volvo and mat.se as well as international companies such as Mondi, the packaging company. The company had a total revenue of 7 million SEK in 2016, but it does not end there as the company is constantly developing and has sold and started pilot tests on several continents by now. The ambition is to improve iFoodbag even more, thus not only giving users a better experience but also contributing to a sustainable environment and less carbon dioxide emissions.

Magnetic filter for paper pulp

Our metal separation expert Koen Böggemann recently visited a large paper mill in the Netherlands. The company was looking for a solution for removing steel wires from the paper pulp. These steel wires end up in the pulp as a result of incomplete removal of the binding wires that hold the bales of cellulose together. This is done before the cellulose is processed into pulp.
Koen : “As a result of the automated process in combination with the human control there is a chance of steel wire ending up in the paper pulp. This wire is particularly damaging for the equipment used to process the pulp. The result is production downtime, but this can be prevented through the use of a magnet.”

Revolutionary Fresh Fiber Product „Grass paper by Scheufelen”

In 1969 the first non-inflammable paper, developed by Scheufelen, flew with Apollo 11 to the moon : an important milestone in the history of the paper industry, just as trail blazing as the introduction of Scheufelen print art paper in 1892.
Grass paper, the newest product from Scheufelen and our contribution to the UN Agenda 2030, will again revolutionize paper production. Scheufelen grass paper is made with 50 % fresh fibers from sun dried grass. Different than other globally available fresh fiber pulps this material is produced locally around the paper factory in the Bio Sphere Region Schwäbische Alb from perennial grass plants. It will be processed in an integrated production site in the paper factory in Lenningen, operated jointly with the development partner Creapapier GmbH, Hennef, Germany.
The revolutionary feature here is the production of an economical fresh fiber pulp with the least possible environmental impact. This stems from a dramatically reduced industrial process water requirement (less than 1 liter per ton grass fiber pulp, compared to a few thousand liters per ton wood fiber pulp), a massive energy saving of up to 80 % per ton fresh fiber material and completely dispensing with the use of any process chemicals.
